SUMMARY:UNT Chinese Ensemble Performance @DAAYO (2-13-25)
DESCRIPTION:The UNT Chinese Ensemble\, led by Dr. Yuxin Mei\, will have a special mini-concert at our rehearsal facility on 2/13/25\, 6:30-7:30PM! (Rehearsal facility address: 420 Maplelawn Dr. Plano TX 75075). Dr. Mei\, a renowned pipa perfomer and educator\, will also be our featured soloist at our 2/23 concert at the Eisemann Center. (She was also our featured soloist in 2023 – here’s a clip!) \n\n\n\nCome hear some fantastic classical Chinese instruments/pieces (~30 minutes)\, and stay for a Q&A and interaction with the ensemble.  \n\n\n\nRepertoire:1）金蛇狂舞 / Dance of the Golden Snake2）送我一枝玫瑰花 / Send Me a Rose3）高山青 / High Green Mountain4）茉莉花 / Jasmine Flower \n\n\n\nThis event is free with registration below!The University of North Texas Chinese Ensemble is the first of its kind to be established at a Texas university. Directed by founding director Dr. Yuxin Mei\, the ensemble plays in the traditional Silk andBamboo style. They have played at many events on campus and throughout the DFW\, includingthe Society for Ethnomusicology Southern Plains 2016\, 2020\, and 2024 Conferences\, theCelebration of Chinese New Year at the Crow Collection of Asian Art Museum in Dallas\, andthe AT&T Performance Center Volunteer Award Party.
