Season Finale Concert

Our 2018-2019 season finale concert will feature not one, but two, student soloists – Michelle Zhu (oboe) and Catherine Yang (cello). Both are winners of DAAYO’s 2019 concerto competition.

Michelle was the 1st place winner of the 2019 Collin County Young Artist Competition (Senior Wind Division) and the Grand Prize winner of the 2019 Bocal Majority Solo Competition. Catherine, a multi-year All-Region cellist, is a member of the chamber orchestra at Plano West Senior High.

In addition, we will also feature special guest Weiping Lu on the erhu (a two-stringed, bowed classical chinese instrument). Weiping began his studies on the erhu at the age of 12, and studied under professors from the China Conservatory of Music and Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He is a member of the Dallas HuaYun Chinese Orchestra and Great Land Choir Society.
