DAAYO International Tours
International Tours
As a youth orchestra with an international flair, the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra believes that performing and touring abroad can be a powerful and engaging experience which stimulates growth on the part of the student in many ways. Observing different cultures in person can be an eye and mind opening experience. We use music as a bridge to make cultural connections and memories that last a lifetime.
Our trips are usually once every three years, and are open to all DAAYO members. In addition, we open up spots on the tour to alumni as well as outside instrumentalists as available.
Japan (Kyoto/Osaka) 2024 (June 8-15, 2024)
DAAYO traveled to Osaka and Kyoto, Japan in the summer of 2024. Our orchestra performed at Izumi Hall (Osaka), and also held a collaborative concert with Ryukoku University Symphonic Band, and toured Heian high school. We also saw many Unesco world heritage sites, ate delicious food and experience local culture and customs such as a traditional tea ceremony.
Austria 2018 (June 16-June 23; Vienna/Salzburg/Melk)
DAAYO’s first European performance tour featured performances at two of the premier venues in all of Austria: St. Peter’s Church in Vienna and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In addition, we partipicated in the cultural sights and sounds of Austria – including the famous ring road in Vienna, the Hapsburg Bellevedere Place, the Benedictine Abbey in Melk, Salzburg old town, and many more.
