Audition Information

2020 Open Auditions (strings/woodwinds/brass)

A note on Covid 19: We have decided to move all auditions to video only.  Applicants will submit all requirements (minus sight-reading) via video files. We still have some openings – so you can still submit video auditions. Our virtual season will begin on 9/13/20! (Rehearsal times remain the same.)

Our Fall 2020 season will start virtually. Obviously, this is a new experience for all of us, but we believe that within every challenge lies opportunity. We are revamping our educational experience to suit this new format, and new and returning students will receive information on this via email.

There is no substitute for live music, but we believe that the changes we implement will provide you and your student with new, interesting, and worthwhile educational value. If you have questions about our season, please don’t hesitate to contact us through our website.

Our 2020 open auditions are now open for registration! These auditions are for entrance into the orchestra in the fall of 2020 (The season is from August to May, similiar to a school year.) Questions? Contact us here.

Important points:

  1. Remember to read our FAQ, as well as this entire page, before registering.
  2. Learn more about our various orchestras/levels through our videos on this website
  3. Specific audition requirements for each orchestra are located on this page (scroll down).

Audition Times and Openings

We audition all strings and winds (woodwind and brass) typically found in a full orchestra. If you play saxophone, piano or percussion/timpani, please register separately here to be notified of potential openings. All other instruments should use the button below. (Chamber Group auditions are also separate and held in the Fall, see below for info.)

All auditions this season will be video auditions due to the Covid 19 outbreak.

Please download this file and read it carefully so we can process your video audition as quickly as possible.

Most applicants will follow a similar audition process of scales, etude, excerpt and sight-reading. Winds are an exception, see bottom of page.  If you do not make your desired group, we will consider you for another orchestra; however, we may require an additional audition. Space is limited and we highly recommend that you look at the required excerpts closely to determine your best potential fit.

All of our ensembles (with the exception of the Chamber Group) rehearse on Sunday afternoons (late August to May) at: 420 Maplelawn Drive Plano, TX 75075
