Philharmonic Orchestra
Our philharmonic orchestra is typically our largest orchestra and contains a full complement of strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brasswinds. The players are typically in the 11th grade or younger. Members of this group receive multiple sectional sessions for each concert period with professionals to enhance their technique and musicianship.
This group plays advanced level literature and the use of 5th position is expected for string players. Bow control and bow division techniques are required in order to produce a greater sound and volume in the orchestra. Woodwinds and Brass instruments should be able to play in C concert pitch and possess legato for long lasting phrases.
The orchestra rehearses from 3:30-5:30PM on Sunday afternoons. There are typically 3 concerts a year and additional performances at select festivals and community events.
